    Been using doom emacs for about a month now, been trying to build a custom config on side. This video has given me a lot of inspiration, thank you!

    Thanks for publishing this, it's very useful for my own config, especially save place and simpleclip which I had no idea about, aswell as the hydra window management config.

      @@JakeBox0 I think I'd really like to see that video that finally make me jump into evil mode or doom like keybindings and editing. For what I've seen I'm pretty sure if I invest the time in doing it it'd be worth the effort but I still lack that final extra bit of motivation to leave behind years of traditional emacs keybindings.
      Thanks again for all the great content!

      @@danv8718 Interesting idea, I like that. For me it was being comfortable with Vim. The space leader key also makes things SO easy. Thank you, and you are very welcome!

    Good video. Been retired from IT for a few years and want to get back into programming. I started my career as a COBOL programmer. Found emacs and like the functionality and flexibility! Started configurations with System Crafters, but also want to find other alternatives. Will review your configuration and see what I can use.

    Hey I really appreciate you motivating me to start an emacs from scratch, I took so much of your config to put into mine so thank you. I would like to ask a quick question if you dont mind since you also use Mac. In org capture, when I use the template expansion %x for clipboard paste, it doesnt work, I saw in your config that you are using simpleclip but I couldnt get it to work. Any recommendations?

    Not only did I watch all the way through, but I wish you had taken more time on some of the settings that you considered too trivial or too well-known to discuss. Nothing better than mining other people's config files for nuggets!

    do you use default keybindinds or evil mode mainly ..?? I m asking this cz i recently switched the keyboard layout and am i thinking about shifting to default emacs bindings

    • @JakeBox0
      @JakeBox0  2 года назад +1

      I use sort of a mix. I use Evil normal mode but in Insert mode use Emacs bindings (M-b, M-f, C-a, and so on). It works well for me. You can make Evil work with whatever you want. Good luck, feel free to ask more questions.

    Hi, jake. How can you have the same color individually for each level of headings in org-mode? When I set ellipse like "(setq org-ellipse "x"), the color becomes the same for all levels of headings.. NO!!!

    • @JakeBox0

      Hi, I'm not entirely sure but I think it generally has something to do with the order in which things are loaded. Try doing that before and after loading a theme and see if it helps.

    This is a great video! I learned quite a few things... I had a quick question though... it seems to me that you have commented out your company-box section. However I noticed in the brief minute where you showcased company mode that you do have icons associated with your company tooltip. I am wondering what is giving rise to this? is it the company-pseudo-tooltip-fontend?

    • @JakeBox0
      @JakeBox0  2 года назад

      Thank you very much.
      I am not 100% sure but I think it is indeed that line. I think it also requires all-the-icons. I'm not 100% sure, having trouble reproducing a MVP. Let me know if you have any more questions.

      @@JakeBox0 Thank you for your reply! I'll try it out in a bit. I was wondering if you had a specific reason for turning off the company-box mode? Did it break a lot of things?
